Today’s Chef Special: “SUSTAIN!”

Psalm 55:22, “Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will SUSTAIN you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail)” (AMP)

SUSTAIN” = “Chul” (kool) Strongs #3557 To Maintain, Nourish, Provide Food, Bear, Hold Up, Protect, Support, Defend; to Supply the Means Necessary for Living.

Occurring Nearly 40 Times, “Chul” Primarily Suggests “To Measure Out a Provision of Food,” That is, “To Provide”.

In Some References “Chul” Means “To Contain”, “To Receive”, or “To Hold” (1 Kings 7:26, “It was a handbreadth thick; and its brim was shaped like the brim of a cup, like a lily blossom. It CONTAINED two thousand baths” NKJV; 2 Chronicles 7:7, “Furthermore Solomon consecrated the middle of the court that was in front of the house of the Lord; for there he offered burnt offerings and the fat of the peace offerings, because the bronze altar which Solomon had made was not able to RECEIVE the burnt offerings, the grain offerings, and the fat.” NKJV; Jeremiah 2:13, “For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, And hewn themselves cisterns – broken cisterns that can HOLD no water” NKJV).

In Genesis 50:21, Joseph Pledges to Provide for His Brothers and Their Little Children. “Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will PROVIDE for you and your little ones.” And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them” NKJV.

In the Present Reference, God Promises to Support, Nourish, and Provide. And All We Need to Do is Seek Him and He Will Sustain Us!

Psalm 55:22 Also Puts the Believer in Mind of Peter’s Admonishment: 1 Peter 5:7, “Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully” (AMP).

Today, Cast Your Burdens and Cast Your Cares, For the Lord Will SUSTAIN You!
